Telogis Apps for iOS Transform the Lives of Mobile Workers

From its annual Telogis Latitude business conference, Telogis, Inc. is revealing its new lineup of iOS apps that bring innovative functionality and fun to the mobile business environment. The user experience (UX) enhancements to Telogis' award-winning connected vehicle and mobile workforce apps take advantage of the unique tools and features available on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Apple recently announced it is working with a select group of business software and solution providers, including Telogis. Telogis software connects its customers' vehicles, equipment and people, and automates processes that once required pens and clipboards -- or worse, clunky, dash-mounted hardware. Apps such as Telogis Compliance ensures the accuracy of government-regulated driving hours (Hours of Service) and mandated vehicle inspections while Telogis Navigation provides specialized truck-specific directions that keep drivers safer and more well-informed, ultimately improving overall job satisfaction. Telogis' ground-breaking gamification app for drivers called Telogis Coach invites friendly competition by scoring the driving behaviors, safety or productivity metrics, and also allows drivers to be identified and recognized for doing well and setting great examples for teammates."Working directly with Apple to build extraordinary user experiences into apps like Telogis Coach brings our customers a level of ease, familiarity and functionality that makes work on an iPad, iPhone or Apple Watch more productive and more fun," said David Cozzens, chief executive officer at Telogis. "The mission-critical nature of connecting everything in a business to the Internet of Things

-- vehicles, people and customers is a given, and we continue to innovate by delivering the same high-quality iOS user experience to enterprise customers that they expect on the consumer side." TerraGo® Partners with CHC Navigation to Deliver High Accuracy and Improved Productivity to Mobile GPS Data Collection

TerraGo Edge® integrates with high-accuracy, affordable GPS receivers to provide sub-meter and cm-level accuracy to mobile data collection users on iOS® and Android® devices

TerraGo, a pioneer of geospatial collaboration and enterprise mobility software, announces a technology partnership with CHC Navigation that combines the mobile GPS collaboration platform, TerraGo Edge, with CHC’s rugged high-accuracy GNSS systems to meet the needs of the most demanding field positioning tasks.

TerraGo Edge now offers advanced integration and support for CHC’s line of GNSS receivers, including the X20i DGPS and X91i RTK high-accuracy receivers. Bringing cost-effective, half-meter and sub-inch performance to smartphone and tablet users, these compact, cable-free and lightweight units are rugged enough for any field environment.

“TerraGo Edge and CHC are helping lead the mobile GPS revolution with survey-grade accuracy and intuitive workflows at a price point that provides an immediate return on investment,” said Lance André, North American Manager for CHC Navigation. “With our X20i and X91i receivers, users get the accuracy they need with the shortest possible site occupations, making this an ideal high-accuracy companion for TerraGo Edge field users.”
TerraGo Edge meets the needs of GPS users, survey teams and GIS departments while delivering substantial cost savings over legacy technology. The TerraGo Edge app directly integrates with CHC’s GPS/GNSS receivers to give mobile users dynamic monitoring and capturing of high-precision GPS data on iOS® and Android® devices. For GIS departments, TerraGo Edge provides the ability to define minimum accuracy standards, as well as the tools to monitor the data quality while uploading the information to the GIS system of record. Many organizations are able to reduce costs by 90 percent or more by leveraging modern, mobile devices to replace proprietary handhelds.

“TerraGo Edge combined with a CHC GNSS receiver is a superior solution for our customers in utility, energy and other industries that require high-accuracy data collection,” said Dave Basil, VP of Products and Services at TerraGo. “Our integration makes it possible to capture the full fidelity and GPS data record with a user experience and features unmatched by legacy GPS data collectors.”

Mobile App Puts Power of Place in People’s Hands

New Featured Maps Deliver Insights into Mankind’s Relationship with the World

Available for iPhone and Android, Field Notes—Earth lets you pick a place (left), pick your profiles (center), and get results about your place.

Smartphone users now have access to Field Notes—Earth, a new mobile app from Esri that employs the power of geography to answer questions about locations throughout the world. Built using Esri’s AppStudio for ArcGIS, the free app allows anyone to discover interesting facts about population, nature, and physical landscapes for any location on Earth.

“Field Notes—Earth leverages the tremendous capabilities of geographic information to describe the world in detail,” said Esri president, Jack Dangermond. “Tools like these update and transform our understanding and expectations in ways that help us be wiser citizens of the planet.”

With an intuitive design available on Android and iOS devices, the app gives users the option to discover answers to questions about their hometown, current residence, or any place of interest. It lets them compare these findings to an additional location.

After selecting an initial place via current location, search, or by dropping a pin on a map, the app reveals geographic insights for three categories—Natural, Physical, and People. Sample questions include: How crowded is it in this location? How close am I to a recent earthquake area? What is the predicted 2050 change in average temperature? And much more.

“Whether you are relocating, are an educator looking for a new teaching resource, or just curious about the world around you, the app reveals insights into the complexity of humanity’s relationship with Earth for everyone to enjoy,” said Sean Breyer, ArcGIS content program manager at Esri.

In addition to exploring 18 questions, users can click on any answer for more details and to learn how the selected locations relate to the rest of the world’s landscape and populations. The app reveals, for example, that the majority of people live in very hot climates and more than 40 percent of the Earth’s soil is poor for most crops.

Field Notes—Earth utilizes maps from Esri’s Living Atlas of the World, including the World Ecological Land Units map that shows the Earth’s complex ecosystems; the new World Seafloor Geomorphology map that reveals the complex role oceans play in Earth systems; and the World Population Estimate map that shows where people live.

Esri’s Content Team created the app using AppStudio for ArcGIS, which lets you build an app once and have it automatically ready for Android, iOS, Windows, OS X, and Linux.

The app is available for free download in the Apple App Store and Google Play.
