Spatial Law, Policy, and Geospatial Technologies: A Comprehensive Overview

Geospatial technologies and applications are become more diversified by the day. The current regulatory environment is insufficient to deal with potential fallouts where spatial technology or application transgresses security and safety of the nation, its citizens and businesses.

National Spatial Policies need to be framed for protection of both military and civilian interests. Countries need to learn from incidents and formulate a comprehensive legal mechanism in Spatial Law.

In the interim, it is for geospatial practitioners to understand the issues surrounding spatial technologies, the responsibilities and legalities thereon.
